Transparency is the foundation of trust. Below is a digital reproduction of an actual Mill Test Certificate (MTC) for our Lug Type Butterfly Valves, demonstrating our compliance with API 609, ASME B16.34, and material traceability standards.

Understand the meaning of Heat No., Chemical Composition, and Mechanical Properties in our Ultimate Guide to Butterfly Valve Materials & MTCs.
Why is the EN 10204 3.1 MTC Important?
This document is more than just paperwork; it is the DNA of your valve. For engineers and procurement managers, the 3.1 certificate ensures:
- Material Authenticity: Confirms the Body and Disc are true ASTM A351 CF8 stainless steel with correct Nickel and Chromium levels.
- Process Verification: Proves the valves underwent rigorous Hydrostatic Shell (24 bar) and Seat (17.6 bar) testing per API 598.
- Traceability: The Heat No. (e.g., J-241112) allows us to trace the raw steel back to the original foundry batch.
Behind the MTC: Real Material Testing
⚠️ A common misunderstanding in valve material testing!
Recently, an end-user gave us feedback that our 316 lug butterfly valve didn't meet the Chromium standards during a handheld PMI (XRF) test. We immediately investigated and found the real reason: The surface oxide layer.
Cast 316 stainless steel naturally forms a thick oxide layer. If you shoot a handheld spectrometer directly on the raw surface, the results will be inaccurate.
In this video, we demonstrate the standard testing procedure:
We ground the lug of the butterfly valve until the bright metal was exposed, and tested it again. The results are:
- Chromium (Cr) 16-18%: The key to anti-rust. (Ours hit the 18% max limit!)
- Nickel (Ni) 10-14%: The key to overall corrosion resistance.
- Molybdenum (Mo) 2-3%: The core advantage over 304 SS, providing superior pitting resistance for harsh environments.
Perfectly standard CF8M / 316 material!
As a professional valve manufacturer, we ensure that every piece of material we use is strictly up to standard. Real gold fears no fire, and real 316 fears no spectrometer!
