How to Read the Standards Matrix

One valve, multiple standards
A valve can simultaneously use a product standard, dimensional standard, flange standard, actuator mounting standard and testing standard. These references are complementary.
ASME Section VIII
ASME BPVC Section VIII is a pressure-vessel construction code. List it separately as a project-specific requirement rather than as the normal butterfly-valve manufacturing standard.
Leakage language
Avoid using “API 598 = bi-directional zero leakage” as a universal statement. Closure acceptance depends on valve type, seat design and specified test condition.
